ESSAY 1:VANDALISM.....

Vandalism....nowadays case of vandalism become more our country.Teenagers nowadays become more
brave to do a vandalism.Such a horrible things..damage other peoples things. Before I come further about this vandalism.I would like to explain the meaning of vandalism.Vandalism is the behaviour attributed to the Vandals, by the Romans, in respect of culture: ruthless destruction or spoiling of anything beautiful or venerable The example of the action includes criminal damage, defacement, graffiti and crass erection of an eyesore.
I feel so angry and anxious, why they do something like that. They feel that destruction of public or private property is the usual things..like they didn't feel guilty about this. They just want to have fun with others...but they didn't think what might others feel about them. Can't they think on their own..uhhh such a horrible think..Example of vandalisme:This toilet has been sprayed over with graffiti. Though the toilets haven’t been destroyed, graffiti is also vandalism. Opinions about graffiti are divided. The younger generations often like the texts and drawings that are sprayed everywhere on the walls, doors and floors. Some people might think that this is an art and some people think this is a vandalism. When you are caught red-handed on the committing of vandalism by the police they will most certainly arrest you, and you either have to pay a fine or get a task sentence. You don’t have to expect that you can elude your sentence when you are arrested for vandalism, because you have destroyed things which don’t belong to you, and you will have to pay for it.
Teenagers especially students are the most people who are distribute into the vandalism. Why are some students becoming vandals? That’s a question that’s questioned many times. There are a few reasons. Some people were bullied in the past en are looking for something they can do to let their feelings out of themselves. But the most attentive reason is ‘bad friends’. Some friends, who’re already vandals, can affect their friends who don’t vandalise. If this non-vandal friend isn’t unsure about himself or herself, it’s very easy to affect him or her. They don’t tell their parents what they are up to, because they think it’s a bit embarrassing, but that isn’t at all. You should say ‘no’ to bad friends who are affecting you. That is the only way to avoid to become a vandal. The other reason are damage (the vandal sees something which is already damaged and gets the tend to damage it more),emotional reasons (the vandal is committing the crime because he’s angry, stressed out or extremely depressed and he vents it into something),boredom (the vandal has nothing else to do and the rest follows), and last but not least is vandalism in a group (the vandal is forced to commit the vandalism in order to stay in the group he’s member of and that’s how it begins
Vandalism in school can be reduce by reducing the tendency for committing such thing. The only way to do this is by making sure he or she has no reasons to do it. I also think that vandalism can be reduce by you can take the vandal to a psychiatrist. He or she will ask the vandal some questions and, eventually, come with an answer to help him or her..After that,to reducing the vandalism by damage is actually quite easy to do, but it’s really expensive. Repairing the damage before the vandal can worsen it is the best way to get the job done.
Furthermore,Vandalism by boredom is not so hard either, because there’s always something to do except this. As long as you want to do something. Then,to reduce vandalism in a group is a little harder to do,  you just need to quit the membership in this group and you don’t need to do anything.
It will be a little difficult tthem..
I hope by give the reasons and ways to avoid it.The vandalism in our country can be reduce.....if we have the spirit and afford to do it especially the vandals.Their family and the loves ones have to hep them too.By this way,our country will be clean form vandalism..Thats all I guest........

ARTICLE 3: FUN IN TEACHING,LEARNING ENGLISH

IT was just another day for some pupils of SJK (T) Chembong, Rembau, just before the recent school holidays.
The pupils from different classes were engrossed in their English lessons and activities, unperturbed by the groups of people observing them from the back of their respective classrooms.
They have become quite used to the attention, as their school is one of many rural schools in Negri Sembilan involved in a programme to improve the standard of English.
Run by the Brighton Education Group (Brighton), whose goal is to enhance English language teaching and learning in rural areas, the programme involves 29 primary schools in Rembau and 15 secondary schools in the Kuala Pilah district.
Mohan explaining a class activity that requires the use of index cards.
The Primary English Language Enhancement and Activities Project (PRELEAP) is funded by the Yayasan Negri Sembilan, while the Secondary English Language Enrichment and Communication Teaching (SELECT) is funded by three royal trusts - the Tuanku Ja’afar Education Trust, the Tunku Najihah Foundation and the Yayasan Tunku Naquiyuddin.
Brighton’s executive chairman Christopher Bell said the programme’s objective was to raise English proficiency among students through teachers.
“This means improving the way they teach. Traditional methods where students are spoon-fed and then tested are not good enough.

'Task or activity-based learning is the way to go.

“The classroom environment is being transformed. There’s drama, public speaking, and even Tom and Jerry cartoons or Michael Jackson songs make appearances, to help students learn more effectively,” he said.

Bell added that the students themselves did not seem to be complaining, judging from their delighted expressions and eager participation in classroom activities, even in front of a group of ten or so visitors.Another pleasantly surprising fact was that the English lessons were conducted entirely in English in all three schools the writer visited.Although most rural students are thought to have little grasp of the language, the students observed were definitely trying their best to practise their English.

“We encouraged the teachers to conduct their lessons entirely in English - to not be afraid of making mistakes as these can be corrected.

“We have trainers who visit periodically to ensure the programme runs smoothly and to help the teachers with problems they might encounter.

“Although its too early to measure results, the improvement is astounding in both the teachers and the students.

“And to think they have only been exposed to this method of teaching for about three months,” commented Bell.

B. Mohan, who teaches English at SJK (T) Chembong, was equally enthusiastic about the programme’s benefits.
“I often spoke in Tamil during my English lessons before, to help students understand the instructions, but now that’s changed and the students have adapted well.

“I am more confident and the students have also improved. English is fun now with the student-centred activities and everyone is eager to participate in dramas or story-telling sessions,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by Elis Rosliza Yahya who teaches English to students at the nearby SK Pedas.
“I’ve been teaching for 20 years, but I still learnt new things from Brighton’s trainers. The techniques I learnt have helped me tremendously and the students have benefited as a result.

“They enjoy their English lessons now and I believe they will slowly learn to converse in English more confidently,” she said.

Sixty-three teachers from Rembau were trained for the primary school project and another 50 were picked from secondary schools in Kuala Pilah.Reaching out to improve English proficiency in rural areas is however, not entirely new to schools in the state as the Project to Improve English in Rural Schools (Piers) – which involved primary schools in Negri Sembilan - was conducted from 2006 to 2008, before Brighton came in......

MY COMMENT:

ESSAY 3:HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI

Hari Raya Aidilfitri.........the moment that all muslims wait .. Muslims in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and  Singapore celebrate Eid like other Muslims throughout the world..it's a very important occassion. It is also known as the festival that marks the end of one month of fasting. The words ‘Hari Raya’ mean 'day of celebration.' ..I can't wait to celebrate Hari Raya because I can meet my family, relatives and friends....Before I can celebrate Hari Raya,I have to go through the fasting month. Fasting month and also known as Ramadan..
What is Ramadan? Ummhhh...To me,Ramadan is the name of the one-month fasting period when Muslims fast for a period of almost 12 hours. They fast from dawn till sunset. It is a known fact that during the period of fasting, apart from eating and drinking Muslims are also forbidden from smoking and having sexual relations. Only the sick are excused from fasting during this month. Muslims are expected to avoid lying, breaking promise or cheating during the month of Ramadan.
My preparations during Hari Raya is not same like my previous preparations..Now I have to buy my one clothes..so sad.My family is not here with me.I have to live own my one...During Hari Raya.Well....In a country like Singapore where there are a number of Muslims, Hari Raya preparations can be seen at least one month before the festival. Geylang Serai, the place that is known for the Muslims to gather, is always filled with large crowds during Ramadan. Bazaars would be set up and they would be selling numerous festive items for Muslims.. At night the place is lit up with glittering lights. There would also be a wide variety of food which would be sold at the fairs and they include kuehs, otah-otah, cakes,  curry, noodles and even curry puffs. Most of the Muslims shop here to get the food to bring home to eat when they are breaking the fast. I know it just because my mom is Singaporean.
Days before Hari Raya,  my house display oil lamps will reach its height on the 27th night of Ramadan, called the Tujuh Likur night. 'Likur' literally meaning a figure between 20 and 30, hence 'tujuh likur' means twenty seven.
Well, celebration for Hari Raya Puasa starts at least a month ahead, during the fasting period of Ramadan. Women start to sew beautiful curtains and buy new clothes for the family and do a renovation for the house so that the house would look better when the guests visit it during the festival.I usuaaly will paint the house with my sister but this year I can't make it. After fulfilling their one-month of fasting, the Muslims would be joyful to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa. On the morning of the festival, the Muslims would wear their new clothes and go to the mosque to pray. They offer their thanks to God and after that they would ask for forgiveness from their elders. This is an important custom followed by the Muslims.
They feel that the young ones asking forgiveness from their elders is very essential. On the day, they also visit their relatives and friends to celebrate the happy occasion. If you visit Muslims' homes on Hari Raya Puasa you can expect to taste a wide variety of delicious spicy dishes. Some favorite dishes that can be found in Muslims homes on this special occasion are ketupat, lontong, nasi padang and beef rendang. The Muslims also have the habit of giving packets of money to kids when they go visiting. Overall, Hari Raya Puasa is a delightful festival for the Muslims.
I think that's all that I explain about Hari Raya...You can see the beautiful Hari Raya greeting cards in this link  Hari raya collection cards
